Let all be the BEST: Brilliance, Execution, Sustainability, Taste.
Introduction
This center was established in 1999 to assess the effects of hand/tool interfaces (gloves, handle shapes and sizes of hand tools, operating planes, etc.) on hand functions (grip/pinch strength and hand/finger dexterity). Recently, we have been focusing on assessing aerobic capability, driving performance, and visual information processing, as well as anthropometry.
What is Human Factors/Ergonomics
According to the definition from the IEA (International Ergonomics Association): “Ergonomics (or human factors) is the scientific discipline concerned with understanding the interactions among humans and other elements of a system, and it is also a profession that applies theory, principles, data, and methods to design in order to optimize human well-being and overall system performance.”
In other words, ergonomics (or human factors) is a user-centered science that applies knowledge to improve hardware/software/environments to match human beings’ physical/psychological abilities, limitations, and requirements, and finally to enhance comfort, safety, health and efficiency.

Goals
To serve professional HF-related knowledge to benefit the interactions between military personnel and hardware/software and further to implement the effectiveness, safety, and welfare during procedure/equipment/device design and also during operation/training.
